The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all quantity surveying and cost estimation activities for the project. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and industry experience to ensure accurate quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and budget management throughout the project lifecycle.

Type: Contract (initially 1 year with possibility of extension) (single status)

Primary purpose: The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all quantity surveying and cost estimation activities for the project. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and industry experience to ensure accurate quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and budget management throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Quantity Surveying: Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements from project drawings and specifications, identifying and quantifying materials, labour, and other resources required for project execution.

Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates, bill of quantities (BOQs), and pricing schedules for projects, considering material costs, labour rates, equipment expenses, and overheads.

Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, tracking costs, expenditures, and variances throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and financial targets.

Tender Management: Assist in tender preparation, evaluation, and analysis, reviewing tender documents, bid submissions, and contractor proposals to support procurement decisions and contract awards.

Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering, cost optimization, and cost-saving measures to improve project profitability and efficiency.

Change Management: Assess and quantify changes, variations, and claims, analyzing their impact on project costs and schedules, and negotiating equitable adjustments as necessary.

Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate cost-related risks, implementing strategies to minimize cost overruns and maximize project success.

Contract Administration: Support contract administration activities, including contract review, interpretation, and compliance, ensuring contractual obligations are met and disputes are resolved in a timely manner.

Cost Reporting: Prepare regular cost reports, cost forecasts, and cost performance metrics, providing accurate and timely updates to project management and stakeholders.

Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and conditions, and monitoring their performance to ensure cost competitiveness and quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

 

Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost management roles, with a focus on marine, civil, infrastructure, EPC, oil & gas, and/or mining projects.

Demonstrated experience working on large-scale industrial projects.

Strong understanding of quantity surveying principles, methodologies, and best practices, with proficiency in cost estimation techniques and software.

Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools, as well as MS Office suite.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with project teams, stakeholders, and suppliers.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate changing project requirements and priorities.

Willingness to travel and work in remote or challenging environments as required by project assignments.

Professional certifications such as RICS, AIQS, or equivalent are desirable.
