The Project Director will lead the execution of the project overseeing all aspects from conception to completion. This role requires extensive experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams across marine, civil, infrastructure, EPC, oil & gas, and mining sectors. The Project Director will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Type: Contract (initially 1 year with possibility of extension) (single status)

Primary purpose: The Project Director will lead the execution of the project overseeing all aspects from conception to completion. This role requires extensive experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams across marine, civil, infrastructure, EPC, oil & gas, and mining sectors. The Project Director will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets.

Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project success and compliance.

Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, implementing strategies to minimize disruptions and optimize project outcomes.

Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, procurement activities, and vendor management to secure necessary resources and services for project execution.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance: Ensure compliance with HSE standards and regulations, implementing measures to promote a safe working environment and minimize environmental impact.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Establish and enforce quality standards and procedures to deliver projects that meet industry standards and client expectations.

Financial Management: Manage project budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility and profitability.

Team Leadership: Provide leadership, direction, and support to project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.

Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular progress reports and updates for stakeholders, senior management, and other relevant parties, ensuring transparency and effective communication.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and innovation to enhance project performance and deliver value to clients.

 

Location: Mozambique, East Africa

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management, with a focus on marine, civil, infrastructure, EPC, oil & gas, and/or mining projects.

Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects, preferably in the energy or natural resources sectors.

Strong leadership skills, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex projects in diverse geographic locations.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency in project management software and tools, as well as MS Office suite.

Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are desirable.
