The Works Superintendent will oversee and coordinate construction activities for the projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills to drive project execution and deliver successful outcomes.

 

Job details:

 

Type: Contract (initially 1 year with possibility of extension) (single status)

Primary purpose: The Works Superintendent will oversee and coordinate construction activities for the projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills to drive project execution and deliver successful outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Construction Management: Supervise and manage construction activities, subcontractors, and construction teams to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

Site Coordination: Coordinate site logistics, resources, and equipment to support construction activities and ensure adherence to project schedules and milestones.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance: Enforce HSE policies and procedures, conduct regular safety inspections, and promote a culture of safety among construction teams and subcontractors.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Implement QA/QC processes and procedures to monitor and evaluate construction work, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.

Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams, resolving technical issues, and addressing design changes or modifications as required.

Material and Equipment Management: Manage material procurement, delivery, and inventory to support construction activities, ensuring availability of materials and equipment as per project requirements.

Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor construction progress, productivity, and performance, providing regular updates and reports to project management and stakeholders.

Change Management: Manage construction changes, variations, and claims, documenting changes and ensuring proper approval and implementation in accordance with project procedures.

Contract Administration: Assist in contract administration activities, including reviewing contract documents, interpreting contract terms, and enforcing contractual obligations.

Team Leadership: Lead and motivate construction teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment, and promoting teamwork and accountability.

 

Location: Mozambique, East Africa

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

Diploma or degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on marine, civil, infrastructure, EPC, oil & gas, and/or mining projects.

Demonstrated experience working on large-scale industrial projects.

Strong understanding of construction techniques, methods, and practices, with knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and manage construction teams and subcontractors.

Proficiency in construction management software and tools, as well as MS Office suite.

Commitment to upholding safety, quality, and environmental standards in construction activities.

Willingness to travel and work in remote or challenging environments as required by project assignments.
