Primary purpose: The Technical Manager will provide technical leadership and oversight for the project, ensuring engineering excellence, quality assurance, and compliance with industry standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and industry experience to drive project success and deliver innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and guidance to project teams, engineers, and technical staff, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
Engineering Management: Manage all engineering activities, including design, analysis, and optimization, to meet project specifications, codes, and standards.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Establish and enforce QA/QC processes and procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality requirements.
Design Review: Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and calculations, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Technical Support: Provide technical support and assistance to project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, resolving technical issues and addressing design changes or modifications as required.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks, implementing strategies to minimize disruptions and optimize project outcomes.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices, liaising with regulatory authorities and agencies as necessary.
Coordination: Coordinate with project management, construction teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met and integrated into project execution.
Innovation and Optimization: Identify opportunities for innovation, optimization, and value engineering to enhance project performance, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
Continuous Improvement: Implement lessons learned and best practices from previous projects, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the organization.
Location: Mozambique, East Africa
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in technical management roles, with a focus on marine, civil, infrastructure, EPC, oil & gas, and/or mining projects.
Demonstrated experience working on large-scale industrial projects.
Strong technical expertise in relevant engineering disciplines, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, methodologies, and practices.
Professional engineering license or certification is preferred.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate technical teams.
Proficiency in engineering software and tools, as well as MS Office suite.
Commitment to upholding safety, quality, and environmental standards in all technical activities.
Willingness to travel and work in remote or challenging environments as required by project assignments.
