The current objective is to improve the system of a mine. This is done through engineering principles to reduce losses and make sure the system operates at the most efficient point. Through these evaluations, numerous project studies are initiated from the feasibility stage through to implementation.

The key elements are communication, problem-solving, analysis and optimisation. Communication between the clients and different departments is important for getting their input and assistance so the implementation of projects can be successful. Problem-solving is part of my work every day as most of the work is novel with new solutions needed. Analysis must be done to establish the current condition, establish trends and baseline the system to quantify the improvement. Optimisation is important in this day and age to make sure the system runs at its most efficient point.
