Describe your career in years of experience per sector/industry/commodity serviced:
I started my career as a Fitter & Turner Apprentice and Qualified in 1987. During this time I also studied to my National Technical Certificate – Part 5 in Mechanical Engineering.
Being a Fitter & Turner was not enough for me, I wanted to be involved in the design of “things”.
I started late in 1987 as a student draftsman and had progressed to multi-dissiplined design draftsman when I left the company in 1995. This was at a Phosphate mine.
I started doing free-lance design and drawing work for general engineering companies and coal mines.
In 1996 I work at a paper mill as Mechanical Designer where I gain experience in the paper industry from the log receiving up to the finished craft paper and news print.
In 2000 I worked as Mechanical Designer at a Copper mine and Refinery Smelter where I also was the stand-in Drawing Office manager at various times. I gained experience in the various stages of the copper ore processing up to the final rod casting plant.
In 2005 I accepted a contract position for 1 year at a Aluminium Smelter where I was gained experience in the Aluminium refining and casting but also established the drawing office standards and procedures for a fairly inexperienced drawing office.
In 2006 I returned to the previous Copper mine.
In 2008 I worked for an EPCM company as Drawing Office Team-leader. We did mostly coal and diamond processing plants.
In 2009 I was offered a position as Mechanical Draftsman for a company specializing on underground mining ventilation and cooling. This gave me experience in very large ventilation fans and ducts, industrial cooling systems, hot or cold water storage dams and ice dams. At this company I also worked as the senior designer on a Solar Steam R&D project.
In 2011 I accepted a position as Design Coordinator and Equipment Designer for and EPCM company that specializes in Diamond, Gold and Iron Ore processing plant and also had a sud-division the designed processing equipment.
After a low period in the mining engineering sector I accepted a position as Senior Mechanical Designer for an EPCM company that specializes in Platinum Processing Plants. I was also the Model Coordinator that was in charge of managing and overseeing the 3D models that was generated by other designers.
In 2013 I was asked by my previous employer to return and I accepted my previous position as Design Coordinator and Equipment Designer. This is my current position and have gained experience in cement factories and heavy mineral mining and processing.
Describe the kind of company you would like to work for including the culture and values it should possess:
I would like to work for a well established company that care for their employees.
A company that employ people for their capabilities and not for who or what they are.
A company that is actively caring for the community and the environment.
A company where I am challenged by my work and where I can gain more college and experience new things.
What do you absolutely love doing?
I love designing machines and equipment.
New once or improve on existing.
Motivation to move (please select): Unstable company
Location Preference: I am open to positions both nationally and internationally.
