What is the primary purpose of this position?
The specifying, engineering and procurement of mechanical equipment for use in petrochemical (oil & gas) process plants.
What are the core elements or functions that must operate effectively in order for you to achieve your primary purpose?
Manage and lead engineers during projects.
Manage clients during the technical aspects of projects. This includes liaising with the client regularly, leading meetings / teleconferences, problem solving where required.
Draft technical purchase specifications and preform technical bid analyses.
Manage local and international suppliers, lead meetings/teleconferences, track manufacturing progress, solve problems, perform supplier inspections and review supplier documentation.
Validate mechanical equipment supplied for projects against national and international codes, laws and standards.
Provide onsite installation and construction support onsite.

Developed, designed and implemented a turnkey container filling solution for a prominent condiment supplier in South Africa.
Developed, designed and implemented a turnkey container filling solution for a prominent hair care product supplier in South Africa.

Development of the world’s first hydrogen integrated valve regulator for use in the UK alternate energy market.

What do you absolutely love doing?
My first love is developing new mechanical equipment/products, producing something new, being innovation and solving problems, liaising with client and suppliers. Next is being involved in new projects particularly in the engineering industry, liaising with clients, problem solving, managing and controlling progress and budget.
