Job Description:
A world-class, state-of-the-art vehicle manufacturing facility is looking to appoint multiple Welding Technicians.
Minimum requirements:
- Technical Diploma (N4-N6): Mechanical / Welding Engineering
- 3-4 Years Part / Product Assembly Experience.
- 3-5 Years Relevant Experience in the Automotive Industry
- Experience With NDT (non-destructive testing) And Macro Etching Process Would Be Advantageous.
Position details:

Reports to: Area Manager
Primary purpose: Welding technicians are the link between the welder and the engineer and work to improve a wide variety of welding processes. As part of their duties, they may supervise, inspect, and find applications for the welding processes. A welding technician uses gas metal arc welding equipment to bond metals together to form component parts. As a welding technician, your job duties include welding different metal pieces together, cutting metal components down to size, and performing processes for finishing metal parts.
Responsibilities / accountabilities:
- Automotive Assembly Process Knowledge And Experience
- Knowledge of incoming materials quality standards by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
- Hand and Power Tool Operational Experience
- Welding Experience And Working Knowledge
- Automotive Assembly Process Knowledge And Experience
- Knowledge Of Welding Procedures and Processes
- Perform Visual And Test Inspections On Welded Sub-Assemblies And Complete Assemblies
- Record Readings And Generate Reports From Inspection Data
- Analyse And Identify Defects
- Ensure Preventative And Repair Methods Are Adhered To
Performance measures/ success criteria:
- Focus on quality and maintain concentration with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy by ensuring weld quality.
- Take an analytical approach to solving problems through systematic monitoring and checking of information to meet standards and ensuring parts and welding meet specifications.
- Set-up and operate welding and joining processes for lab tests, and perform welding experiments
- Work in cross-functional engineering teams to develop and test new products
- Conduct field service activities for department and business units.
- Support related manufacturing requirements
- Interpret welding related requirements and troubleshoot welding problems
- Be committed to learning and continuous improvement through data interpretation and analysis driving kaizens.

Job Qualification & Experience:
Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA):
- Data driven and analytical
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Must have good problem-solving skills
- Measurement Systems Analysis Using Digital Equipment Necessary
- Computer Literate with knowledge of excel and various CAD applications and protocols
- Interpret welding related requirements and troubleshoot welding problems
Qualifications and experience:
