Our client currently has an opportunity for a Senior Superintendent to manage the implementation and delivery of one large, or multiple smaller, operation/project against safety, time, quantity, quality standards, financial requirements, governance, and risk control, and has a definite emphasis on the practical, technical, and commercial management of the operation/project. Fulfils the link between the Country Operations Manager and operational team.
The successful incumbent will hold a National Diploma in Civil/Mining/Metallurgical/Industrial Engineering together with 5 years of relevant process/production/mechanical experience in respect of managing a deposition section or remining section.
Business / Functional Management
Execute project set up and conversion to operations responsibilities in line with organisational strategy and project/operation requirements, to achieve set goals and support sustainability.
Maintain oversight as accountable management for operations including planning, setup, work orders, SHEQ, productivity, technical quality, operations control, resources, materials, stock control, facilities, maintenance, and sub-contractor operational performance.
Risk Management & Compliance
Ensure the business policies and standards on operational and support responsibilities are adhered to, as defined by Country Operations Manager.
Be fully aware of the content and impact of new contracts, and relevant country and industry legislation relating to the contract as related to project/operation execution and governance.
Operations and Contract Management
Implement and execute management and production controls, measures, and reports for a specific site, taking corrective action to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
Establish and brief relevant parties on the project operational programme, information, and long-lead schedules.
Monitor, measure, and report on progress and timeously identify and implement corrective action where progress does not meet expectations and targets.
Implement relevant quality and technical standards as agreed for projects/operations.
Understand and implement relevant internal and client policies relating to technical matters for projects/operations.
Fulfil required duties as per regulatory appointment to ensure technical standards are met and maintained on Site.
Ensure projects/operations compliance to business and client SHEQ systems, and legal requirements.
Establish and manage projects/operations Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality plans, systems, and procedures in accordance with regulations and company policy and procedure.

Job Qualification & Experience:
National Diploma in Civil/Mining/Metallurgical/Industrial Engineering.
Project Management qualification would be advantageous
At least five years relevant process/production/mechanical experience in respect of managing a deposition section or remining section
At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a tailings / mining environment, at Superintendent level
Skills, Qualities and Abilities required
Solid understanding of the Mining, Production and Tailings Industries with specific emphasis on Tailings’ business
Knowledge and understanding of the country/region legislation, compliance standards and bylaws applicable to Tailings’ business
Excellent operational management and planning skills
Expert knowledge and skills in tailings management
Strong persuasion & negotiation skills
Financial and budgeting control skills
