Our client currently has an opportunity for a Senior Credit Controller to provide Credit Management assistance to the Credit Control Manager (CCM) in ensuring the implementation and monitoring of adherence to company credit policies and procedures, the efficient credit management of the customer base and the efficient and timeous collection of debt due.
Credit risk vetting of new customers and where appropriate, current customers;
Efficient & timeous collection of monies due to the company;
Nominated customer account management;
Customers order referral / on hold management;
Efficient administrative support services to the CCM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Credit Risk Vetting
Assist with new customer credit applications, ensure reference checks are conducted;
Obtain and review Experian credit reports on customers;
Analyse customer information in order to make a recommendation as to the credit worthiness and credit risk;
Liaise with Legal on the terms and conditions where necessary;
Advise the CCM of the outcome of the reference checking.
2. Customer Collections
Hands-on collections of monies owed to the company by local and foreign customers;
Timeous processing and allocation of monies collected to the correct customer accounts in JDE;
Hands-on problem and query resolution in order to maximize collections, minimize overdue balances, bad debt and other write-offs and Days Sales Outstanding.
3. Customer Account Maintenance
Open new customer accounts and ensure that all the required information is received and correctly entered into the customer masterfile on Oracle. Of particular importance is that all statutory information is correctly entered;
Ongoing maintenance of existing nominated customer account information. Ensure that all times that the information is current, accurate and complete;
Ongoing review of existing customer credit limits;
Recommendations to CCM on existing customer credit limits, credit worthiness, credit risk and account status.
4. Customer Order Referral / On Hold Management
Ensure that customer accounts are maintained in such a manner that orders placed by high risk and customers with past dues are referred / placed on hold for review;
Advise Sales & Management on actions to be taken in respect of referred/on hold customer orders;
Advise CCM or Finance Director (FD) of account status under these circumstances.
5. Credit Policies & Procedures
Monitor that the Company’s credit policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to and advise the CCM or FD of significant transgressions thereof.
6. Administrative Support
Provide the CCM with the following administrative support services detailed
below. These services need to be rendered in an efficient and timeous manner:
Customer query resolution;
Liaising with most departments for query resolution;
Providing copy invoices/credit notes to customers;
Run the debt aging month end reports;
Processing of miscellaneous invoices e.g. freight charge ups, promotional clothing;
Assisting with weekly invoice from mine site;
7. General Duties
Provide assistance to Finance and other Divisions as and when requested;
Prepare any reports and reconciliations as requested:
General liaison with Finance Institutions, Credit Bureaus and Credit Management Stakeholders.

Job Qualification & Experience:
A minimum educational requirement of a B Tech in Industrial Engineering.
8 years + relevant experience in a manufacturing environment in a Senior IE role.
3 – 5 years project leadership experience.
3 – 5 years leadership experience.
