Our client, a well-known provider of professional technical and construction services, with revenues of nearly $10 billion, has an opportunity for a Senior Construction Coordinator to be accountable for the coordination and support of all the construction-related deliverables of the BD&I Project and engineering tracks during all phases, thus supporting the Construction Manager and Project team ensuring items such as constructability reviews and development of constructability RFQ requirements are properly addressed during FEL and execution.
The successful incumbent will provide a key integrative function between the relevant portfolio managers and business manager regarding the construction quality and statuses on allocated projects as well as acting as a liaison between company business partners, contractors and consultants during the construction phase to ensure commitments are understood and met.
Assist in development of the project construction safety plan and ensuring compliance.
Provide key technical input during site selection process, constructability reviews, etc. in the front end phase of projects in order to optimise project capital costs, execution schedule and life cycle costs.
Support and guide the IBL and OBL construction managers to meet their objectives.
Development and implementation of construction management methodologies, systems, tools and data to improve overall construction management efficiencies and effectiveness.
Support the EC in the development and implementation of a modularisation strategy for the project.
Provide professional support that enables effective construction management techniques to be adhered to in terms of the planning, design and construction of allocated projects from inception to completion for the purpose of managing time constraints and scope.
Translate and implement best practices gained from past experience, into new systems, tools and guideline for use in future projects.
Give inputs to appropriate contracting strategies and requirements for construction.
Manage all affiliated parties and contractors applicable to and during the construction phase to ensure commitments are understood and met.
Ensure compliance to all legal requirements in respect to construction and create an environment of positive labour harmony during construction.
Exercising governance on all aspects of construction management to deliver the agreed upon outcome/intent of the implementation phase of the different projects in the context of agreed-upon business partner expectations, commitments and constraints; implement measures to evaluate construction performance and progress.
Ensuring systems handover as per the commissioning.

On a yearly basis attend construction legal courses
Provide information on existing area permit systems before construction starts
Ability to resolve permit problems/concerns in time and adherance to MOC, Excavation permit requirements
Ensure 3 monthly performance agreement targets.

Job Qualification & Experience:
Minimum of an N. Dip / B. Tech. in (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management) and 10 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 7-10 years’ experience
Health and safety laws and regulations concerning construction and fabrication specifications and standards
Tertiary Construction/Project Management qualification will be an added advantage.
Registered with SACPCMP
Construction contractor’s ability, loading and experience planning & scheduling construction costs and progress verification and measurement.
