Job Description:

One of the top ten diamond companies is currently searching for a SAP Specialist to continuously improve the performance of the Supply Chain Department, through the integration of people, processes and systems, by making possible, facilitating, supporting, integrating, coordinating, executing and influencing the supply chain’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Purpose of the role is to manage the administration of the correct utilisation of the Supply Chain systems modules, i.e. SAP MDM, SAP MM, SAP SD, etc. as well as all related interfaces.

The ideal candidate will have a Degree/Diploma in Information Management/Informatics or related fields, Supply Chain Management qualification and experience (SAP certification in relevant functional area would be advantageous). Will have a minimum of 3 – 5 years SAP MM experience (essential) with extensive experience in the SAP MM, SAP SD and SAP MDM modules, including Emptoris (Sourcing/Contract Management Module), SAP XI and WebMethods Integration. Knowledge of the ECCMA e-OTD or similar cataloguing standard

Position details:

To manage the safeguarding of the integrity of information passing between systems through proactive, preventative and corrective actions as deemed necessary by management and job requirements. To inform sound business decisions through business intelligence to achieve the objectives of the business function. Defines and drives the material, services and supplier master data management strategy, support processes and tools to ensure a standardised approach to master data creation and maintenance which will ultimately provide a common, rationalised data set.

Master Data Management:

  • Develops and implements a GOC supply chain master data strategy, policy and compliance standards to facilitate a common way of working and a single data set.
  • Manages the relationship and SLA with the customer (delivery standard met and exceeded).
  • Setting direction in the maintenance of customer service focus thus ensuring that the provisioning of services meet the needs of the business.
  • Develops and deploys standardised business processes and meta-data elements that will foster leading practice and drive compliance. Acts as lead author of selected master data management processes and data structures and ensure that they are kept relevant, complete and accessible.
  • Defines and implements recommended master data practices and maturity roadmaps that clearly articulate the desired end-state and steps necessary to get there. Continuously identifies and implements optimisation and innovation opportunities and drive these through to being fully embedded.
  • Oversees data governance (value standardisation, duplicate elimination as well as access and authorisation in line with standard business processes).
  • Oversee classification and meta data governance.
  • Implement MDM effectiveness and identifies continuous improvement opportunities within the master data environment with a strong enablement focus.
  • Leads and manages the consultation of customers on critical business problems.
  • Oversees the research / identification / implementation of enabling business solutions to support business requirements.

Systems Enablement:

  • Ensuring fit for purpose systems enabling the achievement of SC objectives.
  • Manages the relationship and SLA with IM.
  • Facilitates system control, user effectiveness and housekeeping routines. This includes SAP ALE interfaces and BW information rules and related management controls.
  • Documentation of system designs, policies & procedures.
  • Liaising with the information management function and 3rd party service providers to implement projects and system enhancements and on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements.
  • Analyses and interprets changes and / or enhancements that are required for the configuration of the SAP Supply Chain system based on approval from SC BPO.
  • Develops and runs a data review process by developing specific reports for reviewing purposes.
  • Ensuring benchmarking of system solutions with the Group of Companies thus allowing for the transfer of best practices of SC system enablement tools.
  • Ensuring supply chain processes are enabled via the ERP system (SAP), MDM and Emptoris system.
  • Oversees the transformation of customer requirements into accepted business solutions through interactions with systems provisioning by managing / facilitating the delivery of the business.
  • Develops and deploys standardised business processes that will foster leading practice and drive compliance. Acts as lead author of selected processes and data structures and ensure that they are kept relevant, complete and accessible.
  • Leads and manages the consultation of customers on critical business problems

Super User Functions:

  • Effective system use.
  • Monitors/reconciles the SAP interfaces to enable correct utilisation of sales, purchasing, inventory and master data related data with intentions of reducing errors and maintaining system governance.
  • Provides first and second line support to all customers (internal and external) and satisfies training requirements on a variety of platforms.
  • Manage company’s SAP Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). Ensure all system access requirements are catered for with required governance.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and patch user acceptance testing as well as approvals.
  • Provides end user support for SAP, MDM, Emptoris and any other ad hoc systems.
  • Coordinates SAP and other related call management systems, i.e. day-to-day system queries such as interface monitoring and IDOC errors, ad hoc system reports, etc.
  • All training requirements are facilitated for all system users. Drives learning and capacity building related to supply chain practices to ensure full acceptance and stability of solutions.

 Projects and Initiatives:

  • To lead and contribute to system and master data related projects aimed at enabling the supply chain performance within the organisation unit.
  • Coordinates / manages projects / initiatives as and when required, taking cognisance of project principles, project scope, specifications, time and cost parameters, heath, safety and legal requirements by:
    • Identifying projects / initiatives for short term solutions or modifications;
    • Initiating projects / initiatives in line with standard procedures, performing feasibility studies, and justifications accordingly;
    • Planning, coordinating and controlling the project / initiative from execution to close out, ensuring that time and cost parameters are adhered to.
  • Leads and manages the optimisation of business processes through business analysis and solution design.
  • Researches and remains abreast with supply chain master data leading practice and technology developments.

Organisation Development and Management / Customer Satisfaction:

  • Ensuring customer requirements meet business objectives.
  • Use improvement methodologies, proper project management and change management to ensure continuous improvement of supply chain processes and internal controls.
  • Leads and manages the facilitation of continuous business improvement, business processes and excellence within Group of Companies by using business process optimisation techniques such as process modelling and analysis.
  • Ensuring fit for purpose systems enabling the achievement of SC objectives.
  • Identify gaps, bottlenecks and opportunities for continuous improvement and business optimisation through management information, data collection, analysis and preparation of recommendations to drive business optimisation.
  • Optimally mobilise the supply chain with effective structures and competent resources to adhere to leading practice standards.
  • Day-to-day stakeholder engagement and management including customers in the various business units and IM service providers, liaising with colleagues across all sections of the Global SC department.

 People Management:

  • Management of team to ensure optimum delivery.
  • Develops key performance indicators relevant to a service delivery environment for all business units to adhere to.
  • Drives learning and capacity building related to Supply Chain practices to ensure full acceptance and stability of solutions. Ensures sufficient knowledge transfer is done to the process and system support resources to enable them to disseminate this knowledge and expert know-how through the rest of the organisation.
  • Effectively manage and lead Senior Officers’ master data to ensure development of capability to deliver per KRA’s.
  • All subordinates have clear, current and measurable goals.
  • Performance agreements and personal development plans are put in place.
  • Setting direction in the maintenance of customer service focus thus ensuring that the provisioning of master data services meet the needs of the business.

Job Qualification & Experience:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree/Diploma in Information Management/Informatics or related fields.
  • Supply Chain Management qualification and experience.
  • SAP certification in relevant functional area would be advantageous. Excel and data analytics.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of SAP MM experience essential with extensive experience in the SAP MM, SAP SD and SAP MDM modules, including Emptoris (Sourcing/Contract Management Module) SAP XI and WebMethods Integration.
  • Knowledge of the ECCMA e-OTD or similar cataloguing standard.
  • Experience in supply chain master data and process management practices and optimisation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Preferential Procurement and Mining Charter legislation.
  • Previous supply chain experience would be advantageous.
  • Good change and relationship management capability.

  • Supply Chain Master Data Management (Level 3). The creation and maintenance of key master data used repetitively in strategic and transactional Supply Chain processes, such as vendor masters, material codes, contract prices and service masters etc.
