Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Quality Manager to be responsible for planning, controlling and managing the quality people, processes and systems.

Requirements: A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Quality Manager in a mid-sized business. Experience in implementation of ISO9001-2015 & ISO 45001 & EN 3834. Qualification: Boilermaker Trade test Certificate; Level 2 Welding inspectors (SAIW); MT & PT level 2; Galvanizing Inspectors level 2; RT interpretation (SAIW); ASME / NBIC Codes of construction (SAIW); NACE Level 1; Lead Auditors course (ISO 9001; 2015 & ISO 45001); Training in SHE.

Job description / core competencies:

HSQ management system to ISO 9001:2015

  • Implementation and maintenance of the HSQ management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015
  • External audits
  • Internal audits, reports and recommendations
  • Subcontractor audits
  • New supplier audits
  • Conduct quality risk assessment
  • Conduct management review

Welding

  • All master measuring equipment is calibrated annually and all calibration registers are regularly updated and maintained.
  • Master calibration register
  • QC stamp registers.
  • Welder stamp Registers.
  • Procedure Qualifications and welding specifications
  • Master welding dossier & welding operators.
  • Welding quality in the workshop

Project Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all Project Quality Assurance systems are in place before the start of the project
  • QCP’s
  • Data Book indexes,
  • NDE procedures,
  • NDE technician qualifications,
  • Welding documentation,
  • Concessions,
  • Technical queries
  • Works instructions and
  • Non-conformances.
  • Regular audits throughout project, to ensure that all parties are working to the project specifications.
  • Submission and control of NCR’s, TQ’s
  • Ensure the timeous and comprehensive development of quality plans for suppliers that renders services to the company for, materials, plant and equipment to be used in projects, as well as control and inspection procedures to prove compliance with applicable specifications.
  • Conduct tender reviews in conjunction with the estimator to ensure that all client quality requirements are taken into account at tender stage.
  • Provide production-related technical advice and input into Projects.
  • Management and Control the quality of external subcontracted fabrication.

Inspections

  • Conduct on site quality inspections and tests to ensure compliance of all work to the project quality specification.
  • Conduct monthly inspections with each inspector to ensure infield training and coaching

Labour Budgets & Project costs

  • 5% improvement on
  • Total quality labour budget
  • NDT budgets
  • which are set up in February
  • Assist in setting up budgets by February each year
  • Apply cost recovery in conjunction with project managers by means of issuing non-conformance reports to suppliers who fail to comply or meet with the agreed quality requirements and consequently require additional company input.

Tender department

  • From time to time, assist tendering department with realistic costing & timing
  • Conduct tender reviews in conjunction with the estimator to ensure that all client quality requirements are taken into account at tender stage.

Client Satisfaction

  • Responsible for the implementation and assessment of client satisfaction on every project
  • Responsible for client satisfaction

STRUMIS Implementation

  • Drive the implementation to STRUMIS in all aspects of quality department.

Continuous improvement

  • Investigate problems and analyze the root causes.
  • Implement and monitor lasting solutions to solve problems
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts.

Communication & Meetings
Lead (L) or proactively participate (P) in meetings:

  • (P) Production Meeting – Weekly
  • (L) Daily check in with inspectors.
  • (L) Quality Department meeting – Weekly
  • (P) Workshop department meeting – Monthly
  • (P) CI Meeting – Bi-monthly
  • (P) Subcontractor Meeting – Monthly
  • (P) Management Meeting – Monthly

Staff Development/Training/Coaching

  • Team meets on a weekly basis for:
  • Progress made against key metrics
  • Holding team accountable
  • Sharing of knowledge
  • Team development
  • Annual performance reviews conducted for all subordinates and any workshop evaluations that are conducted
  • Complete quality team “Talent Assessment “and develop Personal Development Plans (PDP’s) (with the help from HR)

Personal Development

  • Develop personal development plan and commitment to key outcomes of the plan

Job Qualification & Experience:

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent people management skills
  • Ability to coach team members in-house and in-field
  • In depth understanding of managing and motivating a team
  • Excellent understanding of production processes
  • Excellent understanding of key measurement and metrics which drive OTIFAS.
  • Ability to analyze production and make improvements
  • Very good computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Browser) and STRUMIS

  • 6 years at Artisan Level
  • 5 Years as QC inspector
  • 2 Years Safety Officer
  • 5 Years as SHEQ Manager
  • Experience in implementation of ISO9001-2015 & ISO 45001
  • Experience in implementation of EN 3834.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a quality manager in a mid-size business.
