Our client currently has an opportunity for a Project Process Engineer to manage the entire project life cycle of production improvement projects identified on site in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner.
The successful incumbent will hold a BSc degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering (or equivalent) and have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in mineral processing operations.
Professionally setting up projects.
Development and facilitating development of project documentation – SOW, design criteria, meeting minutes, specifications, RFQ, procurement packages,schedules, designs, reports, budgets, contracts etc.
and continuous management and updating of these documents.
Coordinates interaction between mine departments, consultants, OEMs and contractors
Accurate scheduling and tracking of projects.
Facilitating and coordination of relevant test work.
Adjudicates contractor invoices correctly.
Provides regular professional feedback to management team on the progress of projects.
Take full accountability of identified projects from the start to completion.
Ensure all projects are technically fit for purpose from a process engineering perspective and meet requirements.
Identification of process improvements and professionally setting up these projects to realize the value of these improvements.
Deliver projects on time, within budget and in a safe manner.
Environment, Health and Safety
Ensures adherence to EHS policies, procedures, programs, practices and campaigns.
Ensures risk assessments are conducted on critical equipment, systems, procedures and tasks.
Conducts regular health and safety talks with contractors to reinforce EHS and related messages and decisions.
Conducts regular safety inspections of the construction site.
Reviews contractor safety procedures.
Ensures appropriate PPE and safety equipment is used.

Job Qualification & Experience:
BSc degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering (or equivalent).
Master degree will be advantageous.
PMP certification will be advantageous.
Minimum of 10-year experience in mineral processing operations of which at least 5 years must have been in a project execution environment.
Expat experience advantageous.
Proven track record of executing small to medium size capital projects on a mine site.
Competent in facilitating technical earthworks and TSF designs.
Able to oversee mechanical equipment sizing and facilitating and interpret structural and civil earthwork designs.
Strong process engineering design and problem solving skills.
Competent in commissioning and leading a commissioning team.
Strong knowledge of EPCM and LSTK contracting methodology and commercially sound.
Familiar with the use of project software – MS Projects, NavisWorks, CAD, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Good understanding of project management principles and practices and effectively implementing them.
Ability to work alone without supervision.
