Job Description:

A globally respected, South African based company that specialises in Electrical & Electronic Manufacturing and is consistently at a leading position of developments in modern electronic technology, is looking for a Production Support Instrumentation Technician.

Ideal candidate: National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (S courses) or equivalent specialising in Electronics or Instrumentation; 3 years’ experience in installation, commissioning, calibration, and repair of electronic test equipment; Understanding of measurement principles and measurement systems; Experience in PCB repairs down to component level; Programming skills in high-level languages such as C, C++ or Delphi.

Local and international travel will be required. Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle will be required.

Position details:
Type: Permanent
Reports to: Production Support Manager.
Job description / core competencies:

  • Repair & calibrate instruments on and off site.
  • Work closely with Instrumentation and Production departments to ensure efficient production.
  • Delivery of test equipment according to timescales as per project requirements.
  • Maintenance of instrumentation equipment documentation.
  • Data analysis of test results and of instrument performance.
  • Available for equipment repairs after hours.
  • Conduct field tests periodically.

Job Qualification & Experience:

  • National Diploma Electrical Engineering (S courses) or equivalent specialising in Electronics or Instrumentation.
  • 3 years’ experience in installation, commissioning, calibration and repair of electronic test equipment.
  • Understanding of measurement principles and measurement systems.
  • Experience in PCB repairs down to component level.
  • Programming skills in high-level languages such as C, C++ or Delphi.
  • Windows & microprocessor-based test platforms.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Statistical analysis of data.

  • Good technical writing skills.
