The Plant Engineer’s role is to ensure the smooth operation of the plant, plan and coordinate activities concerned with the design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in a process plant.
Job description / core competencies:
Monitors compliance to MHS Act of 1996 and Regulations and, Internal Mine; COP’s, SOP’s, Managerial Instructions, and other legislative requirements as deemed necessary by the company.
Leads and manages end-to-end detailed analysis of work processes, master data, and organization design to identify inefficiencies in the execution of work, diagnose functional and cross-functional
business problems and to identify improvement opportunities.
Supports the identification of functional capability gaps and manages required actions to address them in order to enable functional excellence.
Ensure optimal asset performance within legal requirements and corporate standards.
Continued improvement and enforcement of Engineering Standards.
Planning and execution of cost and Capex expenditures.
Route cause analysis and problem solving.
Ensure satisfied internal and external customers and motivated staff in a safe working environment.
Development and training to support and develop a learning organization.
Effective utilisation and application of SHE systems and processes and conducting risk assessments for new practices.
Comply with and take cognisance of the risk protocol within all projects.
Participate in incident investigations when required.

Job Qualification & Experience:
BSc/BEng/B Tech or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Valid Code 08/EB driver’s license.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a GCC Engineer in a mining environment.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience on Crushing and Screening Plant with, Conveyor Systems and automated Stackers/Reclaimers and general associate infrastructure.
Project management certificate will be advantageous
Planning and Improvement within an Opencast Mining and Process Plant Environment.
SAP, Ellipse, SAGE or KARABO PM or similar experience.
Computer literate (Microsoft Office Advanced Package).
Excellent Managerial, Technical, Interpersonal and People Development Skills
Government Certificate of Competence (GCC).
A fully operational mine and processing plant with the latest infrastructure – ore production over 3 million tons per year and growing.
