Job Description:

The incumbent will be responsible to construct mine excavation layouts for short-, medium- and long-term planning and control purposes in compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Position details:

Key responsibilities:

Arrange, schedule and co-ordinate planning meetings

Schedule and manage the short interval control meeting

Keep record of all decisions taken in mine planning meetings

Report deviations from plan monthly

Assist to generate relevant action plans to overcome production shortfalls

Update the rolling plan

Maintain mine design according to mine standards

Monitoring and ensuring mining according to plan and design

Assignment of workplace

Ensure the monthly plan is aligned to the budget.

Compile the month plan and ensuring that is signed-off

Capture and distribute the high-risk area identified during planning meetings

Ensure that the risk matrix has been done on all ends (workplaces) before mining commences

Implement and communicate planning changes to the production personnel

Ensure that all the planning minutes are available on the server

Liaise with other MRM department (i.e., geology, survey, ventilation, rock engineering) to ensure adherence to quality mining

Capture and distribute the high-risk area identified during planning meetings

Adjustment or capturing of new workplace during the month

Prompt design changes due to geology or structures

Assist mining personnel with any planning related or technical issues i.e., capturing of daily bookings

Month-end reconciliation of the planned vs. actual i.e., broken square meters, tons, grade ounces, waste and reef meters

Compilation of month end reports

Capturing of daily bookings

Compilation and distribution of daily report.

Analysing and distribution of trends and statistics i.e., loss blast analysis report.

Computing the analysing of the measuring results i.e., depletion rate vs development

Enable ease of ore reserve management i.e., statistics on mining blocks available

Update the monthly focus and prepare the safety meeting presentation

Flag any discrepancy from pre planning and month plan by indication and reporting on critical ends mined

Update the yearly focus based on measuring results

Surpac administrations

MS Project – i.e., M/O Equipping schedule

Job Qualification & Experience:

Minimum requirements:

Qualification

Grade 12/ NQF Level 4

Mining related Degree or Diploma

Microstation, Mine CADD, Mine 2-4D, Studio 5, EPS and GEMCOM background

Intermediate level user of mining related drafting software

Valid Driver’s license

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mining environment (Manganese open pit & underground)

Experience in mine planning, design, and scheduling

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Skills/competencies:

 

Short to mid-term Planning

Generate Surpac designs and schedules

Generate relevant Planning reports

Liaise with production personnel and other stakeholders as per the Mine Planning Process

Conduct benchmarking exercises

Prepare the budget plan

Compile the planning documentation i.e., TSD

Sign-off the mining rates and mining dimensions

Short term planning – design and schedule the three-to-five-year plan

Copying, creating and maintaining of all Surpac files.

Ensure that the final reporting scenarios and file names are saved on the server

Revise boundary and investment centres.

Ensures that the Resource Model is approved by the MRM manager

Evaluate the budget against the latest resource model

Run different scenarios based on profitability.
