This is a new mine (greenfield), open pit with an estimated 25-year life cycle. The trial pit and all drilling geology work has been done. Production for the first phase is estimated at 150 000 tons of coal per month, then second phase goes up to 300 000. There is 22km of road from the trial pit to the power station. There’s no power on at the pit, but there is water. Permits and licenses are all done, and the Mine Manager is just for operations, the company will deal with payments, licenses, etc. Housing will be in Hwange town, 22km away from the mine and 80km from Vic Fall international airport.
This is an expat position requiring a Mine Manager’s and Blasting Certificate. Ideally, they are looking for a practical and hands-on person.
The client is a private company, not a big corporate, that has in the past contracted for the government but now has their own concession. They also plan on building a power station.
Open pit coal experience is a must, greenfield experience is preferred, and a vehicle will be provided. They are looking at a long-term contract and will assist with the necessary work permits, etc.
Package will be paid in US Dollars based on qualifications and experience. Staff compliment would be around 150 and they require the Mine Manager to start as soon as possible.
