Our client is the market leader in slurry handling equipment. They currently have an opportunity for a Melting Manager who has a technical qualification relevant to his field, together with a certified qualification in metallurgy, applicable to the foundry industry. Five to eight years similar working experience is a requirement as well as 2 years as a legally appointed section 16.2.
Maintain the safety of all melting systems and processes and implement world class safety practices as guided by the Health and Safety Department and Senior Management.
Ensure that the foundry complies to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act85:1993).
Implement and improve on world class error proofing and quality control systems to prevent defects from reaching the customer.
Maintain the melting expense budget, including manning calculations, shift control, over-time control and raw material costs.
Supervise, develop and motivate staff.
Responsible for the metallurgical and physical integrity of all materials poured and or heat-treated.
Management of critical spares and consumables.
Manage and achieve daily production targets.

Job Qualification & Experience:
Technical Qualification, which may include: S4 / N4 / National Diploma / BTech.
Certified qualification in metallurgy, applicable to the foundry industry.
5 – 8 years’ experience in the management of a foundry sand casting process involving more than 25 employees.
5 – 8 years’ experience of physical metallurgy and or heat treatment of ferrous alloys.
4 years’ experience with actively managing a continuous improvement programme world class manufacturing, TQM.
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
2 years’ experience as a legally appointed section 16.2.
