Our client, a well-known provider of professional technical and construction services, with revenues of nearly $10 billion, has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to execute the project according to the defined model, policies and specifications. The successful incumbent will hold a B.Eng Mechanical and have a minimum of 6 – 7 years engineering experience in the petrochemical/chemical industry covering areas such as pressure vessel design, piping design and rotating equipment.
Performing more complex (S&T, ACHE) mechanical design verification of vessels using software and develop excel calculations for part code calculations.
Understanding and preparation of pump hydraulic calculations, initial exposure to compressible flow machines theory.
Prepare mechanical equipment datasheets and specifications.
Define and size major equipment and develop equipment specifications.
Prepare technical equipment requisitions required for procurement purposes.
Prepare and / or review project standard specifications and design criteria.
Completing tasks in accordance to the specific stages of the engineering design process.
Conduct site visitations to approve work carried out.
Produce mechanical scope of work subcontract documents for procurement purposes.
Collaborate with the drafting team to ensure all drawings and designs are in-line with project specifications.
Liaising with various departments to successfully complete the mechanical scope of work.
Prepare and perform technical bid analysis and tabulation which will be used to select appropriate vendors.
Review, approve vendor information for technical detail and information.
Provide solutions based on client requirements that are in line with the company’s business model.
Assist in conducting technical / feasibility studies and investigations.
Attend project progress, interactive planning sessions and kick-off meetings

Job Qualification & Experience:
BSc Mechanical Engineering.
EPC / EPCM Environment.
Petrochemical, oil & gas or similar environment.
Extensive experience in vessels, piping and rotating machinery.
Intermediate multi-office project experience.
Intermediate multi-project phase experience.
Knowledge and experience with MS Office packages (create spreadsheets, registers, reports, presentations, workflows, etc.).
Knowledge of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule.
Knowledge of codes of practice relevant to industry.
Knowledge of national and international standards.
Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering design and principles.
Proficient with engineering tools and software.
Knowledge and ability to perform technical evaluations for standard and non-standard (requisitioned) materials
