Job Description:

With key clients in the mining, industrial, infrastructure and commercial sectors, our client is looking for a Junior Buyer to assist the procurement team with consumable buying, delivery on projects and quality assurance.

Requirements: A minimum of 2 years’ related experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. STRUMIS experience advantageous.

Job description / core competencies:

  • Assisting with Consumable Buying
    • Suppliers
      • Improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make savings.
    • Purchase Orders
      • Prepare and raise purchase orders in STRUMIS ensuring all information required is completed.
    • Ensure On Time Delivery
      • Expedite open purchase orders utilizing the STRUMIS outstanding orders report.
      • On time and in full delivery from suppliers.
    • Communication time lags
      • Communication of procurement timing with the Procurement Manager.
      • Ensuring products are purchased at the right time, to specification and at a good price.
  • Assisting with Monthly PPE and Beverage Packs
    • Monthly PPE and Beverage items are ordered are on time with expected timeframes.
    • 1 month of packs are ready made-up packs are in the storeroom to avoid late issuing.
  • Assisting with Stationery and Office Beverages
    • Monthly Stationery and Beverage items are ordered are on time with expected timeframes.
  • Assisting with Creditors Function
    • Matching of invoices and delivery notes to purchase orders.
    • Submission of all documentation to the CNC/Procurement Manager for checking.
  • Assisting with clients Procurement Function
    • Sourcing and Procurement of goods for clients.
  • Assisting Buyers
    • Sourcing of Bought Outs Items.
  • BBBEE
    • Procurement to achieve best score on Enterprise and Supplier development element of scorecard.
  • STRUMIS Implementation
    • Drive the implementation to STRUMIS in all aspects of procurement environment.
    • Use STRUMIS for all procurement ordering.
  • Full delivery of Projects
    • Ensuring each area is 100% procured, accounted for and jobs are closed out and before the due dates.
  • Quality Assurance
    • In conjunction with Quality Manager ensure the Procurement team is working to ISO 9001:2015 procedures.
    • Changes to welding consumables need to be approved by Quality Manager.
  • Communication & Meetings
    • Lead / Contribute to required meetings at the required frequency.
    • (P) Department meetings – Bi-Weekly.
    • Meetings set up and meeting times kept. Meetings are not to be skipped.
    • Preparation for meetings is essential.
    • Meetings to have outcomes that are actionable.
  • Assisting with Vehicles
    • Mobile / Overhead Cranes
      • Assisting with keeping Mobile / Overhead Cranes files up to date with all service history load testing/ Services / repairs docs.
      • Ensure that Mobile Crane services are up to date.
      • Ensure that company vehicles services are up to date.
    • Forklifts
      • Assisting with keeping Forklift files up to date with all service history load testing/ Services / repairs docs.
    • Trucks
      • Assisting with keeping Truck files up to date with all service history load testing/ Services / repairs docs.
      • Completing truck licenses / roadworthy documents and or updating licenses / roadworthy before due dates.
      • Ensure that company truck services are up to date.
    • Motor Vehicles
      • Assisting with completing vehicle licenses and or updating licenses before due dates.
      • Ensure that company vehicles services are up to date.
      • Ensure company vehicles tires are rotated, balanced and wheel alignment done.
      • Ensure that tracker devices are installed in new company vehicles and monitored on a continuous basis via tracker reports and report to Management any discrepancies arising out of the tracker report.
      • Report any mechanical faults to Management and keep a register of Employee vehicle usage.
      • Keeping vehicle files up to date with all service history.

Job Qualification & Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ related experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/quantity.
  • Must demonstrate strong ethical character in all interactions and demonstrate the ability to work effectively and productively.
  • Oral Communications – Communicates well one on one, in small groups and public speaking. Fluent, quick on feet, command of language. Keeps people informed.
  • Written Communications – Writes clear, precise, well-organized documents and emails using appropriate vocabulary, spelling, grammar, & word usage.
  • Excellent people skills
  • Decision making and trouble shooting.
  • Able to develop and execute production plans.
  • Very good computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Browser, Strumis)
