Job Description:

Our client currently has an opportunity for a Financial Manager – Projects to be responsible for ensuring the validity, accuracy and completeness of all financial information for projects under their control. This involves the complete project cycle from the contracting phase until the completion of the project and incorporates all aspects of financial and administration for these projects.

The successful incumbent will hold a BCom / CIMA or equivalent degree, come from a Project Management background and have a minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in the field of Financial Management / Projects Controller.

Position details:
Preparation of quotes for new contracts together with PM
Review and approval of contracts
Setting up of projects on ERP system
Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
Authorize access to project accounts
Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
Review and approve purchase requisitions related to a project
Review and approve time sheets for work related to a project
Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
Reconciling WIP/stock/deferred revenue/debtors/sales & COS monthly and providing these inputs for audits
Report on project profitability
Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings
Report to management regarding the remaining funding available for projects
Create or approve all project-related billings to customers
Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
Respond to requests for more detail from customers
Approve the write off of any project-related billings that cannot be bulled to or collected from customers
Close out project accounts upon project completion
Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
Budgeting and forecasting with project Managers on their respective projects
Support to the project Managers on finance queries
Financial system administration

Job Qualification & Experience:

BCom / CIMA or equivalent degree
Project Management background
Minimum of 7 – 10 years’ experience in the field of Financial Management / Projects Controller
Extensive and detailed knowledge of best practice project management and accounting for projects
Knowledge and extensive experience with IT systems including ERP and document management systems.
