They currently have an opportunity for an Engineering Manager that will effectively and efficiently manage the Engineering department’s resources to optimise the quality of its services driving optimum equipment reliability and performance in the short, medium and long term. Contribute to the overall performance improvement of the plant by ensuring coordination and cooperation between Engineering and other departments.

The position carries the legal responsibility (Responsible Engineer 2.13.1) in terms of Mine Health and Safety Act.

Position details:
Reports to: Operations Manager

Reporting, total staff compliment: Direct Reports: 6 – 10 staff / Indirect Reports: 21-50 staff.

Job description

Ensure strategic plans with objectives and goals in place for the department which is aligned with company vision and values.

Ensure availability of sufficient human resources within electrical, automation, project, mechanical and reliability sections.

Maximise utilization of Sepcoms as a tool to manage the department.

Job Qualification & Experience:

Experience and Qualifications:
NQF Level 7, 3 year degree / Advanced Diploma in Engineering qualification (Mechanical / Electrical)
Computer literate on MS Office applications and advanced spreadsheet design in MS Excel
Experience in (SAP system will be an added advantage)
Government Certificate of Competency Mines
Minimum 8 years of maintenance experience in heavy industrial environment.
Minimum 10 years of senior supervisory and managerial experience

Technical Competencies:
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes
In depth knowledge of maintenance management systems
Experience in EAMS (SAP system will be an added advantage)
Problem solving skills
Knowledge of general mechanical/electrical engineering and automation
Excellent knowledge of hydraulics
Very good knowledge of rotary kiln equipment including:
o Fans
o Cyclones and dip-tubes
o High efficiency coolers
o Bag filters
o Conveying systems
o Solids and liquid burners
o Inlet and outlet liners
Planning skills
Inventory management as relevant to Engineering Department
Good understanding of packers and palletizers
Good understanding of vertical roller mills
