Job Description:

Primary purpose: Managing construction aspects of the project in respect of quality, programme cost / contract. Heavy industry, high complexity project programme.

Position details:
Travel requirements: Office and construction on site environment, stay away from home for periods of time.
Job description / core competencies:


  • Provide leadership to enable the organization and related clients to achieve ZERO HARM performance
  • Implement Construction Scope according to approved programme, budget and quality
  • Manage SHE aspects on site for the project
  • Ensure compliance with mine, health and safety act, OSH Act, and other relevant legislation
  • Accept legal appointment and carry out the function therein specified
  • Manage of construction activities on site;
  • Coordination between all contractors and consultants on site;
  • Ensure compliance to project specifications, policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to project controls on schedule optimization, performance and quality control
  • First line approval of completed work in accordance with engineering specifications;
  • Issuing of site instructions i.t.o delegated authority;
  • Manage IR, site related issues and security
  • Manage and develop staff
  • Assist in appointing the owners team
  • Assist in the on site management of construction site, ensure coordination between client, project and contractor teams.
  • Assists in execution team training and on-boarding efforts
  • Accountable for all maintenance field activities associated with the turnaround and related capital projects
  • Effectively communicates up, down, and across to foster support and remove obstacles

Job Qualification & Experience:

  • Relevant technical post graduate qualification
  • Discipline General engineering management
  • Advantage – South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management or Project Controls
  • 5 to 7 Years of project management experience in heavy industrial environmental, preferably in the construction and mining industry
  • Min. 8 to 10 years in Project management
  • Min. 5 years in Project controls
  • Min. 5 years in construction & engineering environment
  • Min. 6 years leading cross functional teams
  • Min. 5 years working with EPC/M.
  • 7 Years plus in leadership and management roles within a technical industry
