Job Description:

We are the market for a dynamic team player to fulfil the role of a Commercial Manager. Travel (local/international) will be a mandatory part of the position so a valid passport & willingness to travel to countries all over Africa (predominantly Portuguese & French speaking regions) is required.

We are not looking for a pure sales person, rather, someone that can engage clients on needs (sales) as well as manage the commercial process through to the end with the operational teams to ensure client satisfaction thereby advancing the company’s position as the sought after service provider for procurement in Africa.

You will need to be dynamic in that the category of products and services will range across all divisions that we service, but good technical experience will be a plus.

Package: Basic + commercial incentive structure

Primary purpose: The role of the Commercial Manager is the development, performance and maintenance of the commercial processes of the organisation to obtain maximum efficiency, quality, service, profitability and growth for the company. This position will require international travel.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

Primary functions:

  • Market research to identify new business opportunities and client leads as well as to inform strategic business decisions
  • Maintenance, development and growth of client relationships this will include travel to various African Destinations
  • Mastermind business growth strategies to help meet organizational goals and objectives
  • Attend networking events and build industry connections in order to facilitate business growth
  • Oversee branding and marketing endeavours to ensure all efforts are aligned with business goals
  • Negotiate new projects and contract terms with clients
  • Work with other departments to ensure delivery of quality solutions & customer satisfaction
  • Reporting on commercial performance and activities of the business

Secondary functions:

  • The role is part of the whole organisation team and as such requires you to perform such reasonable tasks that are required, as and when are necessary, to maintain, promote, develop and expand the business of our organisation and its interests generally.
  • You must carry out your duties to the best of your ability, having consideration for the needs of your colleagues, and the organisation and its clients/customers. You must obey all lawful and reasonable orders given to you and comply with the organisation’s rules, procedures and policies

Location: Cape Town

Job Qualification & Experience:

  • 5+ years prior experience in business development or marketing fields
  • A proven history of successful leadership
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Languages: English.
    • Additional Languages: French, Portuguese (Advantageous)
  • Must be a strategic thinker and a have strong negotiation skills
  • Possess a collaborative mindset and work well as part of a team
  • Superior time management abilities and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational & project management skills needed to ensure delivery from initial bid to final completion of client requirements
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and industry contacts
  • Ready to travel on average one week per month
