Job Description:
Our client is looking to appoint a Chief Mine Planner to produce strategic medium to long-term mine plans and survey related aspects. Summarise and analyse production data records. Prepare Life of Mine designs and schedules. Analyse and interpret information received from other departments and do the necessary reconciliations to ensure optimal extraction and adherence to grade and product mined. Focus on improving the economics and efficiencies of the short-term plan.

Key responsibilities:
Interrogate, analyse, and reconcile production results for the required time frames.
Prepare medium and long-term mine plans.
Strategic mine planning.
Annual mining reconciliations.
Compile the necessary reports of the required time frames.
Ensure compliance is adequately communicated within the required forums.
Ensure that the operational plan is practical and can be executed successfully by means of collaboration between the various stakeholders.
Ensure compliance to mine plan.
Preparation of the medium and short term mine plans, considering potential risks and mitigation strategies. Inclusive of the daily planning schedules.
Ensure compliance to the Mine Health and Safety Act to all aspects relevant to Mine Planning.
Track and reconcile statistical reports compared to budget.
Facilitate the necessary mine planning meetings.
Job Qualification & Experience:
Minimum qualifications:
Grade 12
Bachelor of Science Engineering (Mining) / Bachelor of Technology (Mining)
Blasting Certificate of Competency
ECSA Registration is considered advantageous
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years underground operational experience
Minimum of 5 years underground mine planning
Minimum of 5 years in underground mine design and scheduling software (e.g. Mine2-4D, Studio 5D Planner, EPS etc.)
Additional information:
Candidate must be medically fit as per Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996
Candidate will be required to go underground frequently.
