Our client currently has an opportunity for a Central Operations Manager/Group Maintenance Manager to manage a multi-disciplined team.
The successful incumbent will hold an N.Dip/B.Tech/B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering (or related) together with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Manage a multi-disciplined team (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation) responsible for all maintenance and requirements for all company on-sites facilities.
Implement and maintain an effective CMMS system in order to optimise the use of available funds, personnel, facilities and equipment through effective maintenance management methods.
Continually review and update the technical content of the preventive maintenance system and recommend changes where improvements in safety, quality or economy may be affected.
Continuously monitor and review maintenance performance to maximize plant uptime/reliability and identify areas of improvement.
Develop KPIs to measure performance in order to achieve this goal – MTBF, MTMR, MTBM.
Lead planning activities to ensure the proper manpower, materials and methods are employed during breakdowns and major shutdowns to effect minimum disruption to production whilst optimising costs.
Develop future strategies, systems and courses of action to be adopted by the company in the plant maintenance arena by selecting and recommending the systems and equipment suitable for use and ensuring their correct application.
Lead the development, implementation and commissioning of these initiatives.
Ascertain maintenance and continuous improvement requirements continuously by reviewing maintenance methods, operating modes, control philosophies, plant trends, advanced control routines and attending daily meetings with the Operations Management team with a view on developing new strategies and operating scenarios for maximum plant optimization.
Develop a culture of continuous improvement in the department.
Manage relevant sections of the SABS ISO 9002 and NOSA 5 Star systems.
Continuously review and approve procedures and work instructions in accordance with SABS ISO 9002 requirements.
Actively maintain the highest level of safety by ensuring that all company personnel and contractors adhere to the company and statutory safety standards and regulations.
Ensure strict compliance to the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety act 85 of 1993.
Ensure compliance to all statutory requirements required by the act.
Develop and implement an RBI program to identify, quantify and control operational risks.
Develop and manage various facility on-going projects by design, control and supervision.
Ensure that all new project schedules are met.
Work closely with counterparts in the plant maintenance business community to promote the continuous exchange of ideas allowing the best practice activities to be implemented where possible.
Establish an effective leadership style that allows proper management and control of the activities of your team. Continuously promote growth and personal development of the maintenance team
Develop members of the team by monitoring performance and ascertaining training requirements.
Monitor all subordinate staff work practices by supervising, training and disciplining them where necessary in accordance with the company policy and procedures.
Work closely with the company safety team to satisfy personnel training requirements of an EHS nature.
Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all those individuals who receive service from or provide support, guidance or assistance to maintenance departments.
Prepare an annual maintenance budget.
Ensure that all maintenance budgets are met and properly controlled throughout the financial year.
Actively participate in all company budgeting/forecasting processes.
Prepare an annual capital expenditure budget.
Ensure that all capital budgets are met and properly controlled throughout the financial year.
Conduct risk audits, FMEAs, etc. with the view to identify operational risks and develop strategies to eliminate or mitigate these risks.
Oversee the management of the main store, making sure that all spares, in particular critical spares identified by risk audits, are available at all times to ensure minimum downtime and limited interruptions to the various customers serviced by the on sites business unit.
Actively participate in stores budgeting, cost control and economic justification of spares held in the main store to ensure optimum inventory levels at the most economical cost.

Job Qualification & Experience:
N.Dip/B.Tech/B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering or related.
GCC would be advantageous.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
At least 5 years of management experience.
Solid experience in maintenance systems and safety regulations.
Must have an ability to undertake administrative tasks like reporting and budgeting
Well-developed leadership skills.
Must be willing to travel, work overtime and do standby.
