1. Primary purpose of current/most recent position:

It is to supervise a team that is responsible for electricity generation and I also do power plant operations. I am authorised in Low and High Voltage plant safety regulations and Fossil Fuel Firing Regulations (for Boiler Firing). Key responsibility is to make the plant safe and maintenance of the plant to be executed. Liaising with Station Control in terms of load (Mega Watts) and plant availability in consideration of the nation’s energy demand. Oversee optimum power plant operation in terms of its limits and according to manufacture’ instruction. I also perform Power plant Light ups and plant shutdowns, commission and required tests per manufacture’s instruction.

2. Core elements or functions that must operate effectively in order to achieve primary purpose:

I am employed to generate and oversee safe generation of Electricity in Mega Watts in order to meet the national system demands to make the plant safe for maintenance personnel.
To supervise a team and ensure that the plant processes are efficiently monitored and defected whenever there is a defective system.
Liaise with Shift Manager and Senior Controller.
Commission and do plant tests.

With my experience in the operating department and also with the experience I gained in our Outage department (projects) over the years I found that I am passionate about seeing projects being well planned and executed to the highest standard of quality and on time. My plant experience has groomed me to be very technically alert and able to make informed decisions. I am passionate about negotiating and getting buy-ins from my stakeholders. I work very well with most people as I am assertive, understanding, creative and very analytical in terms of dealing with people and challenges. I am a solution-driven kind of person and can take decisions in any circumstance. I am very focused in terms of role clarification in order to always have a team that understand the organisation expectations.
I am passionate about people’s development and growth. I really love meeting deadlines and planning towards achieving them.
