Primary purpose of current/most recent position: Report to the board of directors (the ‘Board’), with specific responsibility as follows: Appointed as, and will act at all times as, Agent and Representative of the owner of the mine.

2)Provide the Board with annual and quarterly budgets for review and approval, and will monitor and report on budgetary compliance on a monthly basis;
3)Provide the Board with a short and medium term strategy outline for your area of responsibility;
4)Provide management of the administration, planning and systems and related activities of the Company, as directed by the Board;
5)Provide leadership and direction for the Company, its employees, partners and other interested and all stakeholders;
6)Manage the following key aspects of the mining and processing operations of the Company:
a)Financial and Administrative control;
b)Security and allocation of the company’s assets and resources, and the proper use thereof;
c)Safety, Health and Environmental aspects of the Company’s entire operations in compliance with Zambian legislation and international best practice;
7)Responsible for the entire project management, planning and execution of the Company’s development plan in accordance with prevailing legislation and international best practices.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities of ideal position:
Operations Responsibility:
Providing leadership to the senior team and actively driving the development, growth and improvement of the Company.
Maintaining a safe and efficient working environment in which excellence and continuous improvement are pursued on a day-to-day basis.
Ensuring full compliance with applicable legislation including but not limited to the acts relating to mining, the environment and occupational health and safety.
Achieving production and financial performance in line with agreed key performance indicators and objectives, with an emphasis on maintaining the highest levels of safety and environmental compliance.
Overseeing the operations to ensure operational efficiency, quality, service and cost-effective management of resources, by benchmarking mining efficiencies and procurement systems and initiatives in line with best global practices.
Weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reporting.
Oversight of suppliers, contractors and service providers, and managing relations with them.
Preparing and executing annual and life of mine budget plans including departmental budgets, forecasting of costs and management of project costs.
Ensuring adherence to corporate governance and corporate expenditure policies.
Securing and protecting the site’s assets, including facilities and equipment.
Monitoring the actions and work of the security team and setting robust guidelines for them.
People Management Responsibility:
Ensuring and promoting effective communication, participation and consultation amongst HODs.
Creating and harbouring a respectful working environment across all cultures and ensuring all HODs follow, lead and disseminate the same practices to their teams.
Inspiring and motivating the team to give their best and hence contributing towards promoting revenue, profitability and growth of the company.
Mentoring team members to evolve into leaders that can play bigger roles and assume greater responsibilities. It is the GM’s role to ensure succession plans are in place.
Setting, documenting, propagating and monitoring robust policies and procedures for all employees and workers to be guided by (and that training is carried out as necessary).
Conducting regular performance reviews and providing feedback to the HODs to ensure the same. Promoting the understanding, use and application of the performance review system to the HODs for further communication to their teams.

Maintaining and championing the work the Mining Company is actively carrying out in the community (e.g. mobile medical clinics, agricultural, schooling and conservation programmes).
