Primary purpose of current/most recent position:
I’m both Project Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager: As the Project Mechanical Engineer, I’m responsible for all mechanical aspects from design to construction to commissioning within the project. As the Project manager I’m responsible for making sure that all the engineering disciplines (mechanical, cavils, electrical and instrumentation are working together and meeting the scope of work for the project. As the Project Manager, I’m responsible for the project finance/budget. My Project Managers duties also include communicating with the client on the progress of the project and attending to all other queries that they may have.
Core elements or functions that must operate effectively in order to achieve primary purpose:
The core elements to a successful project are: a clear and well defined scope of work. Well defined team with set individual goals that make up a single and ultimate goal. Pipe system design. Pump selection. Fan selection. Drafting of mechanical equipment and technical specification documents. Planning of site mechanical works. Overseeing mechanical installation work. Overseeing various project engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil). Planning, executing, monitoring and controlling progress against a baseline plan. Reviewing weekly performance and conducting regular team meetings. Overseeing project finances. Liaising with clients on the project status. Obtaining client input sign-off of completed deliverables and formal client acceptance of project completion.

I’m a young, energetic, motivated, goal orientated and flexible engineer with the ability to be a hands-on site engineer and at the same time confident around senior management and clients.

Achievements:
*Winning second place in an Eskom award for a DSM (demand side management) project in 2010. This was possible because I constantly monitored and followed-up on the project’s objectives with both contractors and clients *Completing a project worth R38 mil well within budget, within time with no accidents. This was achieved by continuously motivating my team and continuously communicating with all key stakeholders about our overall project objective and the steps that need to be accomplished in order to get there. * Registering as a Professional Engineer with ECSA. Through my work experience and increasing engineering and construction responsibilities I was able to qualify as a Professional Engineer * I was appointed project engineer of two projects, that were running concurrently within a year of graduating from university. The project values were R12 million and R15 million each. Three years later, the projects won an award from Eskom under the DSM energy management projects.
