8. Achievements:

I am a proficient project manager, having successfully managed and completed a 20 MUSD manufacture and supply project in Africa – on time and with profit margins exceeding budget.

Throughout my career, I have motivated and executed numerous complex CAPEX projects, thereby setting the companies involved up for renewed growth and facilitating changes in business strategy & focus.

I transformed a struggling manufacturing unit (with high scrap and high working capital levels) to a word-class manufacturing unit – thereby preventing the closure of the factories of the company and safeguarding the jobs of the factory workers.
This was achieved inter alia through the implementation of employee change management programs and various lean manufacturing / six sigma techniques.

I am experienced in Supply Chain (SCM) management, having pioneered and managed various stock management systems with a number of companies, such as JIT and ABC / XYZ stock management, stock value & stock turns, MIN / MAX levels, S&OP planning and procurement.

During my tenure, the yearly revenue of a company’s service division increased from 70MZAR to 120MZAR – with above budget EBITDA margins.
I also changed the strategy and mindset of the whole business unit, from being only manufacturing focused, to having a clear service and customer centric focus and mindset.

I have set up a business for renewed growth, by properly resourcing and empowering the sales department (via internal and external appointments and related product & sales training), as well as by drastically improving overhead costs control, expenditure effectiveness and risk management.

My financial acumen is highly developed, having been honed by ROI motivations & implementation verification for numerous CAPEX projects, as well as by my full P&L responsibility in a number of job roles.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that’s not on your resume?

I love good food and good wine!

I collect good wine and store it in my cellar at home, for consumption with friends and family.

I also roast green coffee beans myself, instead of buying pre-roasted coffee beans in shops.

Tell me about a time when you had to get to the root cause of a problem to make a decision.

Root cause analyses was required to solve the persistent prevailing manufacturing scrap problem at Wire Systems Technology.

We used techniques such as the 5 Why’s, combined with change management programs, to solve this problem.
