1. Primary purpose of current/most recent position:

Provide support in the formulation and submission of Land Use/Development Applications on behalf of clients. To liaison with local Municipalities and work with a multi-disciplinary project team throughout the lifespan of an informed application.

My end goal of which I wish to achieve from my current position is to gain a thorough understanding/competency in this sub-field/industry of town planning, of which is the largest planning industry in the country, to serve as a base of practical knowledge and experience going forward in my pursuit of branching into alternative/specialized planning fields/industries.

2. Core elements or functions that must operate effectively in order to achieve primary purpose:

-) Consistent communication with clients, local municipalities, and multi-disciplinary sub-contractors in staying up to date with each application’s progress, comments, and approval status.
-) Remain aware and up to date with market demand and understand how industry-specific services can meet the need.
-) Exercising time-and-project management skills in prioritizing applications, and their respective requirements/deliverables, while always accounting for each application’s specific context and situational need.
-) Making sure each application adheres to the applicable local/regional policies, legislation, strategies, frameworks, plans and by-laws.
-) Always remaining inquisitive and eager to learn in broadening my knowledge and informing/refining my paradigm comprising industry-specific nuances associated with this sub-field of planning.
-) Networking and forming professional relationships to better gauge the relevancies and practical application of this sub-field.
-) Studying public documents (policies, legislation, enc.), academic literature, and frontline projects to continuously develop my understanding and practical performance.

3. Description of self, along with greater purpose and passions:

Over the course of my studies and during my time in practice, any new task or unfamiliar challenge I have been faced with has always sparked and sense of excitement and eagerness to rise to the occasion.

As a result, I have developed a sustained paradigm for meticulous yet holistic analysis and synthesis in rooting out all I can to inform “the perfect plan”. This pursuit has always been fueled by my passion and desire to realize a better world. A world in which we are able to maximize the utility of our scarce resources, account and plan for all members of our society, and optimize equal opportunity to improve quality of life and enhance resilient socio-economic conditions.

It is my drive toward enacting smart and sustainable living for all that drives my creative approach in formulating the most applicable, efficient, and time/cost effective interventions/strategies.

Additionally, this has served me well in the presentation and depiction of my plans/ideas/proposals. The ease of presentations and public addresses had always come from my firm belief and confidence in what I have planned.

-) Serving as class representative in my third year of study has served me well in practice in maintaining good communication, team work, collaboration, and public address.
-) Academic Honours awarded for a graduation average of above 75%.
-) I was granted the Golden Key Honor Society Award for reaching the top 15% in academic performance amid my Town-and-Regional Planning year group.
-) In my final year of study I obtained the highest mark among my year group for my end-year research dissertation.
