1. Primary purpose of current/most recent position:

Ensure that safety, health, environmental and governance (SHEG) standards are aligned across the Group. This involves compliance to applicable regulations, alignment with reporting requirements and international standards for SHEG in the jurisdictions that the company operates. Develop a group strategy, standards, targets, and objectives for SHEG across the group and collaborate with operational teams to align and implement programmes.

2. Core elements or functions that must operate effectively in order to achieve primary purpose:

Develop and manage Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk, Quality and Governance systems (IFC Environmental and Social Performance standards, ISO 14001; ISO 45001; ISO 9001).
Ensure compliance to all relevant legislations related to operations.
Develop, manage, and have an oversight on a group strategy, standards, targets, and objectives for environmental, health, safety and governance.
SHE reporting-data integrity to help prepare the company for comprehensive independent assurance of corporate reports.

Highly qualified and experienced mining leader / consultant with over 15 years’ industry experience. Areas of expertise include Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), developing and implementing Sustainability, Health, Safety, Stakeholder Engagement (community and government relations) and Environmental strategies. Established as a strategic thought leader with the ability to engage with businesses and stakeholders and ascertain key opportunities and challenges to create long term strategies that ensure positive and effective alignment and implementation of programmes. A natural leader with drive and foresight and the ability to be highly analytical whilst engaging as an operationally astute leader, to streamline SHEG operations and create and implement highly efficient and profitable strategies. Seeking an opportunity to make impact on ESG and strategic leadership in the company.

Define & implement a SHE or ESG strategy, operating model and policies and value chain in the context of organizational, strategy, relevant compliance, governance and risk profile.
Formulate and manage budget to ensure that the strategic deliverables are adequately budgeted for.
Formulate an develop systems, governance and compliance model and frameworks for operational functions in order to identify and manage risk liabilities.
Identify external group-wide trends, standard and regulations in SHEG.
Establish and maintain a network of sustainable stakeholder relationships.
Develop and manage short-term and long term SHE or sustainability goals, strategy and KPIs.
Monitor and anticipate changes or developments in applicable legislations and proactively plan for and address within the businesses eliminating or minimizing business risks.
Align people capabilities across a single function to the organization capabilities.
Implement and manage workforce planning, recruitment, learning and development, performance management, reward and recognition and employee relations to ensure optimal working environment.
