Current / most recent job title? Facilities Director
Primary purpose of current/most recent position: As the Facilities Director I was part of the executive team that developed the business strategy to match the boards requirements. I then had to design a strategy for my Facility and IT Team that met the overall ICC Strategy. I conceived and planned all the upgrade projects, compiled the tenders and managed all the projects for upgrades to the facilities. I also ran the ISO Team and had to ensure that we maintained our accreditation for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 22001. We applied for and achieved OHS 18001 during 2016.
Core elements or functions that must operate effectively in order to achieve primary purpose: Plan and implement the correct strategy.
Ensure that I have the correct team working for me.
Instil the correct values and culture into the team and get them to work as a team.
Analyse all the various elements of the business and see where there are issues or where improvements can be made. Plan and implement the improvements.
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with other members at the company, with clients and service providers.
Budget for the improvements and ensure that funds are made available.
Description of self, along with greater purpose and passions: I am very passionate in all aspects of my career. I am very versatile and can fit into a new business and learn the systems quickly as I have a very diverse background from the Iron and Steel Industry, Textile Industry to Facilities Management from a Training Centre to head offices, hospitals and Five Star Hospitality venues.
I love developing and improving the skills of people that work for me and constantly pass information onto them as I learn. I lead by example with extensive exposure to cultural diversity with above average emotional intelligence – I think and lead outside the box
I have a very enquiring mind and have to know how each system and piece of equipment works. I will analyse them until I know the method of operation. This assists with making quick repairs when there are faults and with seeing as faults develop. It also enables me to make modifications to the systems to improve them. I am constantly learning using the internet and online courses to improve my skills and knowledge. Social/Business Media Platforms such as LinkedIn enable you to broaden your knowledge on a variety of subjects that assist with business and I am currently expanding my network of connections so that I can learn from more people.
I enjoy building relationships with clients and service providers and this assists with business development and acquiring further business.
I love making a difference; seeing modifications taking place in a facility that improve the service we can offer to clients or making a modification that saves utilities and costs. These are all things that inspire me to head for the next goal.
I am currently looking an opportunity to continue my career making significant improvements to an organisation that will appreciate the skills I have to offer.
