Our Client, which is an established earth-moving/mining equipment manufacturer, currently has an opportunity for a Warehouse and Logistics Manager to manage, organise and contribute to the profitable operation of the company ensuring that Supply Chain Systems and internal controls are properly developed and maintained, ensure that logistical information, advice and directions are available for management and that the requirements of both Head Office and Branches are met.
The successful incumbent will hold a Supply Chain qualification and have previous experience in a similar position.
Administrative tasks include, but are not limited to:
Spare parts receiving and dispatch (to the respective branches).
Arranging the clearing and transportation for imported capital equipment.
Arranging the transportation of capital equipment to the designated mine sites.

To maximize service delivery on existing suppliers.

- Administrative tasks are done timely, correct and accurate with due concern to delegation of authority.
- Keep stores tidy.
- Professional relations with the Branches are maintained, ensuring customer satisfaction and building relations conducive to future growth.
- Sound human resource practises are maintained.
- Relevant operating procedures are developed and improved upon continuously, with due concern for health, safety and environment.
The Supply Chain Management process is to be evaluated and you will ensure that the necessary recommendations are given to management on a daily basis.
Champion and ensure that exceptional standards of service are achieved or exceeded within the designated areas as established by the Managing Director and company policies.
Ensure that proper measurement tools are in place and that the corrective action is taken with respect to identifying service failures, productivity improvements and teamwork.
Oversee the timely reaction to all Branch enquiries, delivery schedules and other information required by the Branch in accordance with the company’s requirements. Manage and ensure that staff maintain the receipt and filing of proof of delivery documentation from the stores or transport company on a daily basis.
Handle any escalated queries related to Branches, providing all necessary information. If unable to provide all the information, then must take responsibility for obtaining the information from the relevant departments and still respond to the requester in a timely manner.
Oversee the creation of source documentation, transmitting of approved printed or electronic documentation and ensuring Branches receipt.
Oversee and direct the management of information and maintaining of records and transaction documentation through functional filing systems.
Oversee the availability of spare-parts within Branch acceptable lead-times, cautioning for over stock and slow-moving inventory situations.
Facilitate the creation of an environment conducive to learning and performing for all staff reporting to the Warehouse & Logistic Manager, allowing for creativity and personnel development within the framework of the Boksburg Branch activities.
Assisting personnel with personal and team concerns, while referring those issues for which company facilitation is required to the Human Resources Department.
Facilitate the motivation, loyalty and goal directed activities of all personnel and identifying possible areas for improvement.
Training and Development
Train and motivate subordinates by means of:
- Reviewing their work.
- Conducting performance appraisals.
- Identifying training needs.
- Implementing training.
- Reviewing all of above done by other members of Department.
Conduct any specialized training that may be required.
Conduct any outsourcing training that may be required.
Liaise with representatives from Branch on a daily/weekly basis, ensuring that the desired company image is projected at all times.
Be available to Branch liaisons as and when required to answer queries and capitalise on future prospects.
Always maintain professional relations with Branches, steering away from conflict while maintaining firm business standards.
Ensure that Branch complaints and claims are treated as priority and resolved to everyone’s satisfaction. Evaluate complaints on a daily basis and escalate any serious complaints to the Business Unit Manager (Commercial). Investigate regular service failures and escalate to the relevant Department Managers.
Ensure that effective communications systems are in place with key Managers and staff, as well as Heads of Departments, to expedite the dissemination of information and provide for timely management reporting on a weekly basis.
Establish and oversee the process of accurate and complete record keeping both in printed and electronic format. Maintain records for such period as required by legislation, while ensuring accessibility and easy reference.
Develop and enforce standards in terms of disclosure of proprietary information for all staff in the warehouse, in order to ensure the protection of sensitive information.
Plan expenditure and control all warehouse expenses in accordance with the accepted budget set by the Commercial Manager.
Ensure that the security both internally (as in safeguarding of confidential company information) and externally as in the content of customer relationships, components and products are maintained at the highest level on a daily basis.
Comply with the company’s safety instructions and requirements. Perform safety inspections on a continuous basis, with due regard for health, safety and environmental issues as well as financial issues, such as stock control, expenditure and use of company property.
Ensure that all employees are aware of the industrial relations procedure and to ensure that the correct disciplinary procedures are followed.
Ensure that the company policies are adhered to and implemented at all times.
Ad Hoc Projects
Assist Commercial Manager / Business Unit Manager with any ad hoc projects.
